Gina Nese

Gina Nese is the Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Compliance and Privacy Officer at Align Technology, Inc. Gina leads the Compliance and Privacy program globally for Align and its brands.

She has over 15 years’ experience as a compliance officer, including experience with anti-bribery/anti-corruption, trade compliance, internal investigations, artificial intelligence, and data privacy laws and governance.

 Gina's approach to an effective compliance and privacy program is to identify and use data to build and scale risk-based governance that can be automated and scaled. Gina believes that AI, including GenAI and other advanced technologies, will continue to advance the legal profession and create opportunities for lawyers and compliance professionals to serve client needs as a valued business partner.

Gina is a licensed attorney in California and Washington and is an In House Counsel in Arizona.

 Her strategic initiatives not only enhance productivity but also foster a culture of cross border business collaboration and continuous improvement across the region.

Her passion for technology and the geek world has earned her recognition in the legal-tech industry, leading to her role as Local Singapore Director for Transforming.Legal, a tech startup with roots in Germany and the US, now proudly headquartered in Singapore alongside partner Thomas Pfennig.

Additionally, she also heads the CLOC Singapore Chapter, where she hopes to champion coaching and training in digital transformation and process automation for corporate legal teams.

Beyond her professional achievements, Mel is a fervent advocate for gender equity and education. She actively challenges the status quo and serves on various industry committees and boards, reflecting her commitment to making a meaningful difference in the community.
