Tom Pfennig
Tom served as SVP and Global Head of Compliance & Data Privacy at Bayer AG until the end of 2023. He was one of the key architects and the global sponsor of BAYER ́s three-year digital transformation project in the Legal and Compliance department, a team of 1000+ lawyers and compliance professionals.
The Financial Times recognized BAYER ́s transformation with the „most innovative in-house legal department in Europe“ Award. Tom was also the regional Country Caretaker for several Asian regions, including Singapore and India.
At Bayer, he gained global experience in Contract Negotiations, Litigation, Investigations, Data Analytics, Process Automation, Leadership and Change Management. Prior to joining Bayer, Tom worked at BMW of North America LLC and AT&T Broadband in the US.
He completed his legal studies at the University of Bonn/Germany and thereafter graduated from the University of Denver Law School with a Master in American and Comparative Law supported by a scholarship from the US Fulbright Foundation.
He attended Graduate Business Management Programs at the University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business and Oxford University Said Business School. Tom also attended several of IMD Lausanne ́s Digital Transformation Programs.
He is admitted to the German Bar and the New York Bar. Starting in 2024, Tom is Founder and CEO of Transforming.Legal, aspiring to become the world ́s leading legal transformation boutique with current presences in the United States, Europe and Singapore. He currently resides in Germany with his wife and three children.
